Whatever you decide to get don't get one with NiCad batteries as they develop a memory and don't like being left not being used.
I've got a Clarke one from Machine Mart which is NiCad so have learnt the hard way.
I'm learning Clarke stuff in general isn't as good as it first seems.

You should not be able to buy anything new with nicad batteries in any more as EU banned them a couple of years ago due to environment rules.

Tried them all and for long life and pure ability then snap on . I have a couple of sizes of them and use them day in. Then when they do show signs of wear snapon will remanufacture them at a very reasonable price ! Mines a propper triggers broom now lol.

True enough, however, if you're in a bind Machine Mart can come in very handy. I once NEEDED a valve spring compressor on a Sunday afternoon to get my car running again and it worked for not a lot of money.
Snap On are excellent, but the premium is there purely as they're professional grade tools. I don't pretend to be a full blown mechanic, and no matter how much I'd love to buy Snap On, I have spend less money and get anything from Shop Brand up to Makita depending on the likelihood of me using it again.
