You'll have to forgive me as i've never been too good with tyres. I have been looking at these recently but i have 205/70/15 tyres at the moment. Does that mean if i get 205/75/15 GG AT2's that my speedo will be out or do i have the wrong tyres and the speedo is out at the moment, or none of the above? I found the GG AT2's online at £365 for 5 delivered which seems to be a good price, but i'd also like new steels too as the current ones have silver hamerite all over so was also looking at the tyre & wheel combo's on JIMNYBITS.

I'm not that good with tyres either, but this is how I look at it.

205/70/R15 are the correct standard size tyre.

205/75/R15 grabbers do fit, but are slightly bigger diameter (about 18mm).

This bigger diameter leads to approximately another 63mm of travel per revolution. So about 3% more.

At an indicated 30mph you will really be doing 30.9mph. Also, as far as I'm aware (or led to believe) car speedos always say you're going faster than you really are!

There again, I could be talking from where the sun don't shine. According to 'she who must be obeyed' I usually am

P.S. I also think that the GG AT2's are an older version. The GG AT's are newer and comply with lower noise regs.

Bosanek wrote: do you believe that your tyres would not have rubbed on the mudflaps (or the mudflap bolt) if you had not had the wheel spacers?

Also .... would a solution be to replace it with a flush head type bolt, and possibly to shorten the plastic spacer by 3-5 mm?

pretty sure you'll not have any issues without spacers fitted, but if you do then shortening the plastic spacer would be the way to go.

;)

Hello, I'm a bit late to this thread but after fitting 205/75/15 grabber At's my speedo is now pretty much spot on when compared to GPS,
You are correct the AT2 are the older pattern.

I don't have mudflaps but the car is standard (57 plate with the deeper bumpers) and Ive not had any rubbing issues. I think that backs up what others have said :)

i love my hancook dynapro atm2. very cheap...73€ a corner...around 50£, great grip in dry tarmac, cant slide it unless there's sand on the road or doing stupid speeds, in the wet they only slide if i do it on purpose, or if i enter the corner leaning hard on the shocks and then transfer the weight to the other side too fast. awesome in the sand and gravel...prolly not that great on mud, but i dont do mud, so it's fine. no change in mileage from stock, now with 6000 miles, the rear ones still have the small marks on the tread like new, the fronts are slightly more used, but holding up very well

I have noticed that my front bumper tends to "sag" down. It is noticeable, because a visible slight separation of the bumper from the headlight occurs. When I pull it up by hand, the lower lip of the bumper moves away from the front wheel by approx 1 cm, and that is a significant difference.
When I release it, it stays in the pulled up position, but sags down again soon when driving, coming closer to the front wheel again.

I am afraid that the sagging bumper might interfere with the larger 205/75/15 tyres if I fit such tyres.

What could cause the sagging? Could it be that some clips or connections which hold the bumper to the chassis have weakened or got broken? Can they be fixed/strengthened or replaced? Is it hard to remove the bumper and to reinstall it?
