It's supposed to be illegal to change the bumper style on 07onwards but I cut a section out of my old one for a winch which did stick out an inch or 2 and never had any problems with that at all. I currently have a chrome bull bar on front of the one I have now (51 plate) that has 2brackets on it for spot lamps

25th May 2007 was the date from which they were banned.
Older vehicles are fine.
I believe this is why the Jimny bumper was changed to comply with the new pedestrian safety laws.
There is some debate as to the wording as it bans new vehicles being manufactured with them or any company fitting them.
If you only want spots could you not just fit some sort of mounting across the grill or coming up from behind the bumper as technically it's just a spotlight mounting not bull bars.
I note on one website that they make EU compliant bars that hinge backwards in the event of a collision but they are very expensive of course lol.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

It has been an offence for bull bars that have not been approved as compliant with those safety standards to be sold. Approved devices will carry an 'e' Mark (department of transport)

well still cant find any light bars that will fit mine. the onesthat were mentionedthat attach on the number plate mounts, i dont think they would take the weight of themselves never mind spots a well, it's onlt mounting on to plastic. was thinking of a roof baras well( not hard to make and look good) but would it look right halfway down the roof? i have a vert so its the only place to fit it. nyone got any ideas how to fit spots onto the bumper or from under the grill?

i noticed today that on the underneath of the bonnet just above the grille there are 2 holes that if drilled could mount a light bar.
