Thanks guys, went for option 2 above .....
will post feedback ... either success or give you all a laugh :S
Jack, I did think of the solid external option as looks easier to apply.
Facade, already have reactalite specs but don't think you get polaroid with them, could try this though ....

I always fit the sort that holds on with no glue or such. I even used it on the sunroof of my SJ.

Reactalite don't go dark enough in the car, as they need UV to react to, and the glass windscreen stops most of the UV.
You need a fixed tint.
When the low sun reflects off a flat surface like a wet road, the reflected light is horizontally polarised, the sunglasses are vertically polarised and block this, reducing the glare.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Is it your intention to fit this sun visor strip on the outside Mike
The reason I ask is, with the wiper blades reaching high up on the screen, I think you will find they very soon wear on contact resulting in non contact or 'smudging' when back on the glass ....
Had this happen on a previous motor ........

no it's either going on the inside or in the bin :S
intend on sticking it on the outside with elec tape pieces and cutting to size, then applying to inside, [strike]then maybe taking off and putting it in the bin[/strike] must try to be more positive
