A warm engine is easier to turn over for a struggling starter and the battery has just had a nice top up.

I get this problem occasionally when I stall it and its running hot like off-roading!.. I'm wondering if the starter is on its way out and suffering from a little 'heat soak'

They don't like starting when stalled. It should turn over ok but won't start. Give it full throttle until it catches, or if it still doesn't start, wait 5 minutes and it will.

It's a bit like how old carb engines used to flood the carb.
