As I recall the emission values of a Jimny were not known prior to 2001 so the vehicles were taxed in the old way according to cc. Any sub 1500cc vehicle had been taxed at the lowest rate for that system in those times so in the absence of emission info that's what government did.

Using your reg info at this site:
www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
shows that you have a 1999 Jimny with the single cam engine, but it wasn't registered until April 2004! :ohmy:
Which means that you've got the worst of both worlds: The earlier belt driven engine without the cheaper tax!
