I doubt it would even be noticeable If it did increase the BHP. These things are just soooo slow!

Great off road though and still fun to drive :)

MysticRich wrote: I did the 1.6 conversion 3years ago but the main reason I fitted a stainless system was because as any of you that have done plenty of off roading the jimny exhausts don't last 2mins and in 2years I rotted up 2back boxes and a mid section as well as snapped the joint on a cat when I drove into deep water.
Take it from someone who has used their jimny off road it is worth fitting stainless system and not as you suggest to be a boy racer .
You can have what box box you want it doesn't have to sound extremely loud and their is a noticeable power gain as the engine is working more efficiently.

+ 1, i'll going for stainless as i want it to last as i use my for heavy offroading and not just to drop the kids off to school. and, i don't have time to clean the muck off till the following weekend, i don't thick to many times of that before i need shares in kwik-fit.and busta i think ur going off the original post

Do you not think it sounds good? I even think a tweaked landy td5 sounds good. Lol

Remapped td5

After seeing a few potential jimny's ive noticed the back boxes looked a bit rough so a stainless (pretty much rust proof) back box has its advantages :)

Having had stainless steel exhausts before, (Powerflow, pipewerk) due to there longer life, and power on big engined cars. I now think a good Aluminium'ized Mild steel version is far more worth the money. The jimny aint no sports car. I usually paint the centre pipes and rear boxes with a good VHT paint . Far cheaper and if you knock it off road and dent it, it wont hurt as much. exhausts used to corrode very fast inside out years ago, this was due to Lead in petrol, I was told, which was far more corrosive than today's unleaded fuels, also today most top manufactures use mild steel coated with aluminium, to extend there life. as for Bore size the M13AA 86bhp engine uses a bore pipe of 48mm. I think a decat pipe would maybe gain a little power as the M13A jimnys have 2x cats. But this would now be an MOT fail :( .
