Salt on the school run is more likely to kill it than mud but fair enough. I drive off-road everyday and have washed it twice in 18 months. My standard exhaust is doing fine! Not sure if I'm going off topic or just giving answers some don't want to hear... But your it's your money and your choice!

I once had a car with a big bore s/s system and a friend kept saying your engine likes lots of back pressure.
I later changed it for a standard pea shooter and sure enough it gained more power and felt much more responsive.

+1

When I had a hole in my exhaust a while back, there was a significant and very noticeable power loss.

I'm all for modifications that have a functional value. I've given getting this one a lot of thought and almost went for one in the past, but unless you go for a system that is custom made and tuned all the way from the headers to the back box, you're wasting your time. And if you were to go for such a system, then as someone said previously, the cost vs performance gain equation comes into play, where you're throwing hundreds of pounds at just a couple horsepower.

I'm not looking for stainless so I can increase performance, I just want my exhaust to last longer.

I don't drive my Jimny as an everyday car, I understand its incredibly slow and I'm not stupid enough fro think a stainless exhaust is going to make it suddenly quick!

If I can get a stainless exhaust for £100 more than a normal one, then i think it's worth considering.

I don't see how you can be wasting your time to fit a product that will last a longtime to one that won't.

Fair enough, it's a different story entirely if it's lifespan you're after. Mine and I'd imagine most of the other dissenting voices were aimed more at those thinking it's a good investment from a performance point of view.
