Hi Faye, welcome to the forum. It's good to have another Irish member on here. I drive the back roads of Waterford daily and we've been hit with all the wind and floods. The Jimny does catch the wind a bit but like other members have said, check your tyres/pressures, relax a bit and drive to the conditions and you'll be grand.

Hi Mike! Thank you. Got home safe and sound this afternoon... Trip up yesterday, no bother, the gods of calm weather were smiling at 8am... Today was a different matter. It was in fairness not a particularly pleasant experience... gales force winds a exposed for most of the journey. Anything over 100km p/h felt downright unsafe. So I cruised along with the lorries, overtook when it was safe... got dirty looks all the way... realised that people really do love speed over safety here... (I too was a speeder in my last car, never again)... My main issues, high-sided vehicles speeding past causing intense gusts that were hairy... And a carful of kids, who were going so fast I didn't see them coming... and tailgated me a foot from my rear as I was overtaking a lorry... Despite this experience, I kind of get that you have to get used to the sensations and handling... go slow, but sure and ignore all them b*****!! Ironically, the only other slow moving vehicles, were 2 other Suzuki 4x4s and a couple of micros. That won't go down well here I know... sorry. And thanks once again for all the advice. I won't be saying goodby to my lovely Jimny just yet : )

I have never really noticed the wind in the jimny. That said I don't drive on any open roads (havnt in windy conditions anyway) and I'm used to getting blown about on the bike anyway.

I did that a few months ago coming down the A1 with my caravan.
It was going great using hardly any throttle until the temp gauge suddenly shot up.
I pulled in to a layby ASAP and it returned to normal, much to my relief.
I can only assume there wasn't enough air going through the rad as,effectively,I was in still air
I started off high and worked my way down ever since
