I spend a lot of time in outback Australia. Out here, you get 'willy willies'. Silly name but they are small, low intensity tornadoes. Unless they raise a little dust so you can see them, they can broadside you without any warning. So far ridden these out without incident, so the advice about relaxing is the best. I have all terrain tyres, so I sit a little higher, and even a small wind makes me meander a bit. You get used to it :)
