I'd just enjoy the Zuke for what it is and stick a winch on the front if you really want to go up steep stuff.

Yup, fit a Warn 8274 with an XP motor, and you're up the hill pretty fast 
Also, a Lockright for the rear diff is not a bad idea

The 1.6 will give you more torque at the wheels than the 1.3. The more you put in the into the gearbox the more you get out, so going from a 100NM 1.3 to a 143NM 1.6 will make a big difference!
