Was thinking about putting lower ratio diffs in, how much do they limit cruising speed on road?
Posted the other day about getting a 1.6, thanks for all the replies, very helpful, at some point i think thats what I'll do. I've got 215 aggressive mts 4" lift and rock lobster, it's pretty capable off road but where I do now get stuck offroad is very steep stuff thats a bit of a long way up and there's no space to get more of a run up.
My thinking is the 1.6 has more power at lower revs but this won't gain more torque to the wheels as the gearing is the same, so the way to go would be lower ratio diffs, but would that really limit my onroad speed and then need to put in the 1.6 anyway?
The 1.3 I have in it is pretty tight, happy to sit at 60 on road.
Cheers

Surely first gear with a rocklobster is low enough?

Not quite what?
I could understand if you were running 31"-33"inch tyres. But with those 215's I'd say it's more about driving style, or lack of it.

Got a diff lock lol, where I get stuck generally is very steep, steep isn't really a problem if its not such a long way up, where it is I think I'm running out of momentum, getting wheel spin and coming to a stop. Low 1 or low 2, i do hate to be beaten by a landy
