Oh that's interesting I never knew it ought to beep for the lights too. Is there a hack that can tell the bcm when and when not to beep? I am loathe to start cutting wires as I can see me upsetting the immobiliser with my luck. Are there any decent independent suzuki specialists in Yorkshire that have a good reputation?

Why not shut the door but leave the window open. That way you can hear your music & if it locks it's self you're not locked out. You also retain the lights on buzzer.
It just means changing a habit.
At least the car will remind you if you forget... beep,beep,beep....

Ok so I have had a look and it seems that whomever stopped the beep has done it by wedging the switch off with a bit of card and some tape :S I have put in back right for now till I get a better idea or someone to hack the bcm for me.
