Will start by saying that i think the jimny is an amazing little machine and has supprised me no end, mine is basic compared to alot of peoples on here but still gets places you wouldnt expect it too.ive recently fitted an m16a emgine aswell and this has made it drive so much better over the moon with the engine but my questions are this.
I run a jimnybits 2" lift with pro comp es1000 shocks,my jimny is not my daily drive but it is varied depending on what eles i have at the time.ive been running about in the jimny since tuesday gone as ive lent out the only other car i have at present,as the week has gone on im finding the ride of the jimny more and more irratating as the days have gone on,now i know even in standard form the jimny is quite bumpy/choppy and ive read that the jimny bits lift isnt the most comfortable of lifts,i have no rear seats in the back of my jimny just a wooded out floor and when im not off roading i dont carry alot of gear with me,when hitting bumps the front of the jimny is tolerable but the back to me is rock solid no give what so ever hitting bumps it just bangs and crashes.i was out with the mrs yesterday running about and i was getting quite annoyed at it tbh to the point where she noticed it,i mentioned the suspension but she came out with are you not just a bit sick of the truck ??
What are peoples thoughts ?? is it worth looking into a different suspension kit ??? or is the other half right ? im loosing interest in it and time to move on ??? any body eles ever felt like this before ???,like ive said the minute you move onto off road the suspension is great its travelling to and from trips out/genral running about that im fed up with. thanks for reading gaz.
You really should try some harder shock absorbers.
I've just fitted +4" Rough Country N2.0 shocks. What a difference. They are way harder than the OME +40mm shocks I had before. Now I can go much faster offroad, and speed bumps at 60-70 km/h is no problem.
This is of course only half of it. I also swapped the OME springs for +4" ORA springs.
To be honest, I have never understood why so many on this forum use the ES1000 shocks. They are way too soft for offroading if you ask me.
For me the suspension i run now i find far too hard on road and on some of the flatter lanes where you can travel at a small pace it's sometimes to stiff on the more twisty stuff i find it fine, but as im having a moan about the ride the last thing i want to do is make it harder ?? or am i missing something

But this still doesnt stop me looking at other cars, i'd love a 90 trayback,
I've just landed my full time contract with my company so i will be buying a new fast daily and having the jimny purely as a toy, it seems alot of people regret packing in off roading, i think its a case of taking the ups with the downs and weighing it all up and thinking is it worth all the time and effort,
Up to now my answers been yes all the time, even if it is currently annoying me as its sat on my drive broken and not being able to work out why and i'm getting up an hour earlier to get to work on my pedal bike will all be worth it for my next trip out!
