Hi all,i would have posted this in technical but i think there's more to it than just a suspension question.

Will start by saying that i think the jimny is an amazing little machine and has supprised me no end, mine is basic compared to alot of peoples on here but still gets places you wouldnt expect it too.ive recently fitted an m16a emgine aswell and this has made it drive so much better over the moon with the engine but my questions are this.

I run a jimnybits 2" lift with pro comp es1000 shocks,my jimny is not my daily drive but it is varied depending on what eles i have at the time.ive been running about in the jimny since tuesday gone as ive lent out the only other car i have at present,as the week has gone on im finding the ride of the jimny more and more irratating as the days have gone on,now i know even in standard form the jimny is quite bumpy/choppy and ive read that the jimny bits lift isnt the most comfortable of lifts,i have no rear seats in the back of my jimny just a wooded out floor and when im not off roading i dont carry alot of gear with me,when hitting bumps the front of the jimny is tolerable but the back to me is rock solid no give what so ever hitting bumps it just bangs and crashes.i was out with the mrs yesterday running about and i was getting quite annoyed at it tbh to the point where she noticed it,i mentioned the suspension but she came out with are you not just a bit sick of the truck ??

What are peoples thoughts ?? is it worth looking into a different suspension kit ??? or is the other half right ? im loosing interest in it and time to move on ??? any body eles ever felt like this before ???,like ive said the minute you move onto off road the suspension is great its travelling to and from trips out/genral running about that im fed up with :( . thanks for reading gaz.

Gaz, you are not alone if you are losing interest! I've not posted on here in ages which is as a result of losing interest to some extent.

It's the opposite for me though in as much as when I drive mine it rekindles my interest. I even thought about running mine as my daily recently and saving on the insurance & tax of having another car but my Jimny is less comprised than yours with a full external cage etc and a whiney rocklobster box!

I've stopped buying all the mags I used to buy and even found it a drag going to a winch challenge to spectate last weekend but a mate dragged me along. I write event reports for Total Off Road, do had a bit of an obligation to go too for the event organisor.

I enjoyed the event and was glad I went. I enjoy the photography and writing too!

I think what's reduced my enjoyment is not doing anything offroad or any greenlaning for over a year so I've got a near competition spec truck with loads of money in it just sitting there not being used. I drive it to work on my night shifts to keep it in use and the battery charged!

I need to use it more greenlaning! I've stopped pay & play sites as I got sick of going round & round then spending as much time maintaining it & cleaning it as I did driving it. Now it's just for laning.

If I did more laning I think it would get my juices going again!

Is this perhaps your problem too - lack of using it for the reason you have it so you just see it as a bumpy waste of time and money?

I can honestly say that the Jim is the worst car I have ever had when Im driving it on the road - small, noisy, slow, thrashy!. I find it love hate (and I have only had it a few months!!) I really fall in love with the thing every time I go laning, but as a day to day driver, I cant stand it! I dont want to buy and run another car, so I suppose its just a balancing act - just pleased my commute is 10 mins now, rather then over an hour!

Can see what you're saying kirkynut, tbh my jimny has seen alot of use this year upto now,was the end of june begining of july i thought to myself i would have a month off and to do a bit of maintinence to the jimny.i only green lane now,id done a few p+p days couple of years back in my land rover days but got sick of breaking them and doing laps of the same track.i think its the jimny tbh ive got no doubt a day out on the lanes would make me change my mind but its the times i have to use it on road i find it more and more of a chor to drive.i cant help but think what it would be like laning in my old 3dr 300 tdi if you know what i mean.i dont have a specific 2nd car as im in the motor trade and i oftern have a couple of cars at a time and just run about in them but when needs must my jimny is there.thats why i asked is there a softer suspension set up avalible,id be guttered to sell it as ive put so much time money and effort into it but on the other hand if im not enjoying it ............

You really should try some harder shock absorbers.
I've just fitted +4" Rough Country N2.0 shocks. What a difference. They are way harder than the OME +40mm shocks I had before. Now I can go much faster offroad, and speed bumps at 60-70 km/h is no problem.
This is of course only half of it. I also swapped the OME springs for +4" ORA springs.

To be honest, I have never understood why so many on this forum use the ES1000 shocks. They are way too soft for offroading if you ask me.
