Also remember that just some thought can help out in a recovery.

The temptation is to recover forward to pull you through the hazard, however remember that you were driving through the hazard ok up to the moment you stopped, therefore the nearest "safe" ground is behind you. It was only in the last foot or inch that you stopped, the rest of the distance was driven. Therefore a much lighter pull backwards can often unstick you better than a forward drag through the rest of the hazard.

I went on the plain a few weeks ago. The only thing I suffered from was grounding in ruts as I don't have any lift.

I got towed (dragged) out a few times, just make sure that which ever shackles you buy will fit through the standard tie down points, they're not very big.

I'm going to put ORA recovery ones on mine soon, details to follow when I've done it.

You will find that you will be able to fly over the softer parts better than the heavier 4x4's, just go and have fun!
