Recovery for First Time Off Road was created by Sprocket
Hi All
I've been invited with some friends to take my Jimny for its first off road experience on Salisbury Plain. I've got some off road tyres sorted for the day but I've now been warned to make sure my recovery points are OK just in case. Having read some of the forum pages I guessing using the towing points isn't a good idea, so I'm now wondering what I can do cheaply and quickly.

Any ideas?

I'd get a bridle strap from machine mart and make sure you don't get so stuck that you require a heavy tug, then that will spread the load on the tie down points. If I was to get stuck, then it would be in something seriously sticky so I'd need a hard tug which would damage the standard tie down points.

You can use a bridle(?) strap accross the front anchor points to give yourself a bit more strength by spreading the load.

On the rear I have used a recovery strap around the chassis bar where your dampers bolt too. Ive recovered and been recovered with the rear strap no issues.

Hope this helps.
