First off, bare with me I'm pretty new to these cars.

I'm considering fitting a 2" lift kit to my 99 Jimny, other that the shocks and springs what else will I need? Castor correction bushes? Any other parts necessary?

Hi Craig, you will probably hear varied responses however I am running a 2 inch spring lift with additionally 1inch spacers, pro comp shocks and rear shock relocation brackets. I have not added castor correction bushes and you can certainly feel the wheel does not self center after turning. Apart from that I have no ill effects but will be fitting castor correction bushes at some point. It is also worth a note that pervious to fitting the springs I had 2 inch spring spacers and had no problems with the wheel self centering, I have not added a adjustable panhard bar either as there is no noticeable off set on the wheels.

As for brake lines I have not fitted extended line however I have pulled the copper pipe work through the body and down a bit, this has given me enough length on full stretch. It is tight however.

Hi Craigy and welcome , plenty info on here. For a 2 inch spring and shock lift yes you will need caster correction bushes, I ran without them for a while after mine, it wandered a bit on the road and tramlines as well, the bushes were a big improvement. You will definitely need longer brake hoses at the same time. Rear (bottom) shock relocation brackets are also a good idea.
Cheers,
John.

You have to ask yourself - why am i doing this?

Normally, the answer is height - as you want to not keep getting grounded-out on the axles and transfer boxes...

IMHO, i you are going for 2inches, then go for 3inches instead, as the 'extra bits' you require will work on 2inches or 3inches.

But, with either the 3inch body-lift, spring-lift, or B4V Spring spacer-lift, as said above:

* you'll need extended braided brake pipes (essential in my opinion, as - if there tight, then on full articulation there gonna snap)

* you'll need caster corrected bushes (Bits4Vits do them)
* or you'll need caster corrected Radius Arms (ORA do them, but i have D&G Tuning Arms fitted - they are the DOGS)
* You'll longer Shock Absorbers (ProComp 9000's or similar - Russ at BigJimny is cheapest i've found, but Dave at B4V supplies Trail Master)
* you'll be needing a Steering Damper set-up (Big Jimny sells these)

Now that you have this extra 3inches of lift, you'll be able to fit 16inch GV Steel Rims instead of the standard 15inch rims ....

Sadly, with these larget rims and tyre, you'll now be needing a RockLobster (lowered gears in your tansfer box - as supplied by RockWatt or Rob Storr, get a low as you can afford, I have the Rob Storr 6:1 box)

Now that you have extra lift, bigger rims and tyres, and awsome power in low box, you'll have around 1 ft clearance under front/rear axles :)

Also with bigger rims, tyres you'll needs 32mm wheel spacers, and have to cut back the inner and outer wheel arches

Next on the list, with these big wheels will be uprated Panhard Rods - Front and Rear - Persoanlly, Rob Storr are the cheapoest and the strongest...

So .... back to the original question --- why am i doing this????

Good luck, in the long run you know it makes sense, just bluddy expensive!!

Jalapeño, IISY?
