There is still the odd law around from the old ages... For example your aloud to shoot a frenchmen if he is seen walking on St Quens Beach on a sunday night...
Your allowed to shoot Welshmen in Chester after midnight. Also Scotsmen in York as well. Its great being English
I bought a pair of LED H4 bulbs off eBay...don't bother don't work!
Put them in and one worked on dipped but not on main, the other didn't work at all and just smelled like burnt electrics.
As others have said, options to improve headlights are:
Osram NightBreakers - have them installed, much brighter but they don't seem to last as long as normal bulbs, about £20 for a pair
HID bulbs - not the best idea as they are not legal. They require a fish eye lense to focus the beam correctly, otherwise they just produce a lot of glare and hence loose a lot of light. Might pass an mot but the police can do you of they can be bothered, more worryingly the insurance can be void in event of an accident.
HID kit - these are around £100 but come with the fish eye lense which you install into your current headlight. This means the beam pattern is correct, and the light output is very good. Technically still illegal but much less likely to have an issue.
If going HID, don't get higher than 6k otherwise the light goes darker (purple) and they do not emmit as much brightness. Manufacturer standard xenon is about 4.3k to give you an idea, the big boy Range Rovers and Audis are 6k
