Mine had a HG replaced, water pump and stat by the dealership that I bought it from due to overheating issues. However, it still did it if I gave her the beans and drove at 69mph ;)

As I had zero confidence with the garage (the tappets hadn't been set properly), I removed the rad and back flushed it. The water coming out with the rad upside down was a mere dribble. I fitted a new rad (came with new cap) and problem resolved. 18 months on and she's as good as gold.

Take the rad out, tip it upside down and see how quickly or not the water comes through. It's an easy job.

Good luck :)

+1 for a new rad.
Mine was doing similar (but only in hot weather). New rad and all is good.

Your garage sounds rubbish by the way
