id say water pump bearing has gone

ask them to pressure test the cooling system as you think the water pump is leaking and go from there

Stop driving it then! If the head gasket hasn't gone you're sure going to make it go if you keep over heating it like that!

So you could turn a faulty water pump into a faulty water pump and a warped heat that is too warped to be skimmed and needing replacement if you really cook it up!

Well its been in at the stealers all day - i rung them just before closing as i hadnt heard anything. Apparently everything seems fine and they've tested everything. They took it for a run and it didnt over heat, but as its happened more than once on me and its had the thermostat and rad cap changed and its still happening theyve put it on test to simulate a longer run   what this entails i dont know, my guess is to jack it up, run it up through the gears and then put a brick on the accelerator :P Gotta call them back tomorrow to find the results, but the bird i spoke to said, it could be a crack in the head that only opens up when the engine gets up to a certain temperature. They checked the water pump and pressurised the engine today so until tomorrow.................

I spoke with the dealer again today. They had it on test in the workshop for half an hour last night, running at 3000rpm and it didnt overheat. The have checked the water pump and its fine, the radiator is cooling and warming as it should and theyve pressure tested the head. I told them it normally over heats after about 8miles and they're going to look into it. They agree its likely to be loosing pressure once upto temperature, so are going to take it on a road run on monday to see if they can get it to heat up. Any more suggestions fellas

pressure test the head with out removing it thats a new one to me
so did they remove the water pump to see if is working how else can thay tell 100%
a rad can be heating and cooling as it should but still be blocked some how
put a genuine stat and cap on as well just to make shore the ones you fitted arnt faulty thats if thay are not genuine in the first place
have they checked the fan coupling to make shore thats working as it should it could be intermitant fault with it

if thay pressure test the cooling system thay should show a leak where its loosing presure

so running it a 3000rpm for 1.5 hours and it didnt over heat i think i could go a lot further than 8 miles at the 300orpm in 1.5 hours
