Martin
2003 M13 early KAP build.
3" Trailmaster lift with 1.5 Spacers on front
Customised winch bumper and roll cage
235/85R16 Maxxis Bighorns on 16" Rims, 4:1 Rocklobster, Rear ARB locker and on-board air
Corrected arms all-round, rear disks, Recaro seats and harnesses
Just back from a short break in Mallorca.
Hired a Jimny whilst out there (sadly could only get a petrol manual Jimny otherwise my return baggage would have been stuffed with a Diesel engine and Auto box!)
Will post up some pictures and a "report" later

Wecome back - it's not so warm here!
I had a quick look on the French and German ebays the other day at Desel Jimny's and they don't seem to plentiful over there. Otherwise it might be worth the hassle of left hand drive to get the engine all ftted ready to go, especially if you don't use the vehilce all that often on road.
I don;t know how easy it would be to get engine spares though as no-one eally imports them as grey imports.
It's interesting you mention an auto box Martin as I think they have some strong benefits. One being les strain on the transmission as the power gets fed in more gently than you can with clutch, even if you slip it. So CV's and shafts will have an easier ride. Another being that you re always in the right gear off road without the loss of drive from changing in a manual.
I know Rhino Ray does a conversion but his prices are not cheap, as you'd expect or he'd not be in business still!
I think an auto box, coupled with a rocklobster and a locking rear diff with largish aggressive tyres would make an awesome Jimny.
Now did I say I wouldn't get the cage and winch I've just fitted, nor the Rocklobster I've got being built, nor the rear disc conversion in my head at the minute ... mmm, me thinks the future might be bright, the future might contain all of the above!!!!

Have a look on Ebay France for engine pictures if you want some Martin, I saw one at least, it is a very different animal!!!
I just read your update on the home page which prompted me to say this.
