Is the secret of the kinetic roped to have a few short runs at it rather than reversing up the full 8-9 m and having one almighty tug and possibly snapping the rope. Obviously with a tow rope you just take up the slack till the rope is taught and then go for it

Hi mate just have a look on YouTube to how to use the KE rope in the correct manor. I personally would bother with one foe the Jimny I just use shackles and strops and next a small winch. An if it gets really bad get digging. I will post some pictures later when I'm home of how and were they welded to. They make a massive difference because the standard ones are far too flimsy for off road recovery. I have used mine to recover my
Mate v8 disco dozens of times. Let me know if you want some I will see if I can get some sorted.

Thanks

James

what does the different colours mean on shackles as i've seen yellow, blue, green, black
I know that a coloured shackle mean its been tested but is there any difference between the colours?
our main shackles are black rat which are meant to be super strong and are black with yellow pins

Haven't the foggiest! :S I just bought the best i could afford. I've seen blue and green widely available, i wonder if they're aimed at different applications. I was about to spend the earth on 4 green pin when i found the blue pins at half the price, rated and tested so i was happy with that for the use they will get(i don't get stuck  ). Without a debate on physics kicking off i can't imagine that a pair of 3.25t shackles will be troubled. IIRC the swl is about half the rating, i've got the certs in my toolbox somewhere i think.

A KERR shouldn't take a load of runs at it, best way if a truck is that stuck is to do a bit of digging first then the recovering truck just pulls away and the energy is transferred to the stuck vehicle. They're rated at something like 14000kg breaking strain, its usually the recovery point that lets go first. In all honesty i rarely see people using them, most will just have a tow on a strap to get them going. Anything else is winched out, the marshalls have some well equipped trucks for the job. For most people a kerr is overkill IMHO
