Congrats.

What is a UJ? My jimny has a brrr in 2nd gear, but only if the rev's are below 2k rpm. If l take 1st gear upto 3k rpm then change to 2nd it doesnt do the brrrr.

How much is it to fix a worn UJ (approx)?

A Universal Joint is on the end of each propshaft. The Jimny has 3. New UJ's are a pain to fit but you can buy good second hand props for not a lot of money from ebay and ebay shop CAM Suzuki, who can take a while to deliver but have good stocks and always come through in the end.

Fitting is 4 bolts at either end of the shaft, easy!

Amazing. I have been doing exactly the same but I thought that I simply wasn't giving it enough revs. I've always had turbo diesels before this which don't complain if you change before 2k! In that case I'll believe my original suspicions then! Right Kirky, do you have a part number to hand? of the UJ's....I see props are plentiful

Well l thought it was clutch/gearbox related as it only happens in 2nd gear. The other gears dont make the brrr noise/vibration even below 2k.

I would have thought a worn UJ would effect all the gears?

I used to get through UJs on my old Suzuki SJ at the same rate my Jimny currently eats wheel bearings!. When a UJ is worn it typically made a noise/vibration in 2nd Gear and a metallic "clink" when letting the clutch up in first.

I don't have a part number I'm afraid but buy a prop with god UJ's on, it saves the need to rempve UJ's which is doable but not fun and speeds up fixing the problem to a 20 minute job with no loss of skin to knuckles or swearing!

They are cheap enough to buy as a unit - shaft with 2 good UJ's.
