It came with a CD which seemed to do all of that. TBH it has so many bewildering parameters to play with that I just left it as it was but as you ask, should I make changes?

Next.

So now I have the Radeon 5450 (removed from the optiplex 755) spare and I am tempted to install it into my daily PC which is Optiplex 745 (tower like my 755) currently running an Intel Q965.

It should be a big upgrade going by this www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?c...B%5D=974&cmp%5B%5D=7

Question is Ollie - the Radeon was taken from a 64 bit and the PC I want to put it into is 32 bit so will it be OK?

Hehehe here we go again.

As long as you can get 32 bit drivers it should be fine.

Just trying to get the drivers as I type. I tried it without downloading any drivers and the display was horrendously oversized

It failed. I got the drivers but the display on the screen is stretched and circles look elliptical no matter what I do so I have removed the card and abandoned it. :( :(

Sounds like the resolution ratio didn't match the screen. Sometimes if the screen and the card are both trying to auto size it can create conflict. Did you try manually selecting the resolution?

Yes. None of the ratios eliminated the 'stretch'.

I also used the catalyst to alter sizings. Wasted hours on it and I thought was doing well after the actual fitting took seconds.
