Solid advice on PC graphics card needed

It is a double slot you'd need convert it to single which wouldn't be difficult as one slot is only a vent but if the guide I posted is correct for your pc, after converting the face plate it would fit.
You may be able to find an older 400 series that shape that falls within budget.

It would be a good choice. Apart from trimming the end plate my real concern is the price especially as the PC looks destined not to be a gaming PC at least for modern games.

The offer that was made to me for the 9800GT is about to expire and it is £24 so I am thinking to fit that and see how it runs. When I fit it I can get a feel of what the situation is in the flesh. Maybe then I can upgrade more if we find one that suits if you still want to keep searching. Gone complete circle but what a superb journey. Didn't you say you have used a 9800?
I have learned fantastic amounts from you. It is such a complex world.

Edit - I have put that one on my watch list and will see if a used one comes up for sale.

I've learned a lot here too! Been looking myself at half building a new pic to run euro truck sim2. Trying to find the cheapest setup of motherboard processor and graphics I can...it's hard work! I'll be coming to you Ollie when I get stuck

Cheers guys it's been a bit of a refresher for me. When I put mine together the Nvidia 400 series were the latest gpu's so the gap between the 9800 and the top cards wasn't as significant as it is now.

I have ordered the 9800GT - we'll see what gives.
A super duper gaming PC would cost the earth and worse, I would not have the faintest idea. I am on Origin and Steam but even just looking at their games gives me a headache. Also I prefer to own a disc and Steam is online download only so a couple of TB is the minimum HDD space I would really want. Then to avoid horrendous long download times (like hours) the PC needs to be really rapid on the net - go for very high broadband speeds like 1000 meg.
If money was no object though, a high end gaming PC is unbeatable.

I've been googling lots(as I'm sat on site waiting to start due to rain:) ) and found this pc from a shop near me www.lightning-computers.co.uk/ in the computers section it's the and fx6300 would that be a god one with the graphics upgraded to the nausea gtx750? Looks good spec and is the cheapest I can find
