I guess I got fed up with regular car shows aeons ago. I quite like car restoration shows. I have gone off magazines like Car Mechanics but that's possibly caused by the rise of the interweb. I like to see supercars and know darn well I'll never own one apart from on a PS game or watching the other half's son in his Nissan GTR.
To me it is entertainment of a compulsive variety but it could be delivered in any format like any programme on the Discovery channel.
I can take or leave the section on a star in a car, great with Will Smith, Gillian Anderson and some others but often just a bit of a turn off.

My main gripe was that it turned from any semblance of a car show

DVLA records show the plate was on the car from new. For a while it was replaced with a private plate, then refitted when the private plate was removed.

I don't believe that was intentional. That was the correct plate for the car, and there can't have been many 928s to choose from.
I honestly can't see it being anything other than deliberate. on the same coin, can you imagine the probability that of the few 928s to pick from, he managed to buy one that the whole registration just happened to strike a painful chord with the Argentineans?
I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out at some point that the reg was bought as a private plate some time around the time of filming.
Paul.
