You had better get used to the idea that EVs are here to stay. In fact in the not too distant future it’s all you will be able to buy and if you want to carry on running your ICE it will be you who is looking for somewhere to fill up, not the guy with batteries under the hood.

Well, I didn't put this on here to start an EV fight! But - I have had my Audi EV for 3 years and done 32k. Couple of niggles as you get with any new car, but have never been stranded. They have there place, I do a 50 mile round trip to work and it suits my needs. I pick up my Volvo next week, again a full EV (but smaller as the Audi was too big). Would I keep an EV as our only fuel source, no, but as we have a petrol car as well, it is a perfect fit. Anyway - still like the idea of a full EV for the lanes - but not at £50k!

I think there is an issue with the cost, there is no way I would buy a car of that value, I just don't think they are worth it, either EV or ICE, I run 3 cars, total budget for them all is under £10K, £6.6k Rav4 had 8 years, £1.5K Shogun 3 years & £1.8K 6 months, now I agree I'm lucky in the sense I know which end of a spanner is which & I enjoy fixing them, (although not as much as I used to). But it is possibly to repair them & keep them on the road, a 10 year old ICE engine will not be as fresh as when it came out of the factory, but what state will a 10 year old EV battery be like?

EV is great for the rich or the foolish who can either afford or think they can afford them, but is the suitable for the masses, I'm not convinced, maybe I'm just too old to accept the brave new world, maybe the cynic in me sees the money being made over the environment being saved.

Maybe but 90% of your petrol comes from fossil fuel, unless you use E5 in which case it is 95%.

I don’t have an EV, my fleet of vehicles are a 2011, a 2001 and a 1977, which I would still run on 4* if it was available.

I think the really sad part is that ev technology was contemporary with the advent of internal combustion but unfortunately historically there wasn't any social pressure to push funding. Evs with a hundred plus years of development would be something to behold but unfortunately people didn't want to see t.
