02/08/08 - Welcome to Big Jimny

A website dedicated to my "Big Jimny"

The Suzuki Jimny is the successor to the venerable SJ410, a tough small off-roader developed as a Japanese Jeep. This website covers my Jimny, Jimnys in general and my offroading hobby..

Welcome to the world of Suzukis, mud, challenge and fun!

Jimnys are a diminutive off-roader with a classic part-time 4 wheel drive system. Part time means that the 4 wheel drive (4wd) is selected by the driver and that when on road the vehicle is only 2 wheel drive. This makes the transmission simple and simple means strong and reliable.

When on the road the driver selects 2 wheel drive and it drives like any other vehicle. When off-road, or on loose and slippery surfaces, the driver selects 4wd and all four wheels are connected to the engine improving traction and driveability.

So why "Big Jimny" - well any vehicle is a compromise by the manufacturer to make it suitable for all purposes. Big Jimny has been built with only off-roading in mind. Suspension, bodywork and gearing are all adapted to improve the off-road ability.

The website is in the form of a "blog" with articles in different sections and categories. Selecting menu items filters the views of the website. The menus to the left take you to the articles on this website, whilst the menus on the right list the latest articles and show which articles people are reading the most.

If you have a Jimny and want it featured on this site, or if you have a modification you wish to tell others about then drop me a line - I can be contacted through the "Contacts" section of this website.
