I am chilled thanks. I think your recovery points look really cool! Having 8000kg rated recovery points on a 1100kg car, mounted 100mm above the chassis line isn't a particularly good example of how it should be done though. Especially when you bought yours and you are criticising someone who is making theirs.

Yeah it exists. Only in Aus mate haha. I can roll it and I'm still covered.
My recovery points go directly into the bull bar side panels, which are mounted directed to the chassis rails. and you're right, having 8000kg rating on an 1100 car may be over rated, but when you're being pulled up hill, in mud (or more often, on sand), you might see their use as the car no longer requires 1100kg of force to recover, usually a lot more.

That 1 piece of box section is welded to the chassis rails/crossmember in 10 different places,

That looks alright to me, as a rough guide an inch of (good) weld should hold a ton so I don't see why that should be too weak. Take a look around the chassis and you'll see that there is very little weld needed to hold any of the main components together.
