lockers are overrated
the vvt motor is fine for running 31s,
im running 31s just with the g16b,
does rely on a bit more clutch slipping, but it doesnt take u long and u get used of how to drive it,

you don't need any of them but they all improve your off road ability
you can run 31" with a g13bb with 128k miles behind it
but to offroad with control rather than slipping the clutch or racing at every thing you need a rocklobster transfer box
a rear diff lock will improve your off road ability no end especially over axle twisters

O.T.
Darthloachie ... and what about also a front locker? it made a big difference compared to rear only?
I have rear locker and usually if i get stuck is not because of poor traction, but because of too deep mud or snow ...

we have an ARB front locker which is great as long as you keep the steering straight - if you dont you break a half shaft
we also have special tracks which also add to the traction
we occasionally get stuck if the front diff or radius arms dig in - usually if in deep ruts made by clumsy green ovals with 37s then the ex army entrenching tool comes in handy to 'adjust' the top of the rut
