Do I need adjustable panhard rods? was created by Bigchridy
I'm going to fit my 3" lift at the weekend and was wondering if I would be alright driving the Jimny with the standard panhard rods?

I will be buying some adjustable ones just not till I have sold me disco! So I might have to do 1-2 pay and play days with the standard ones on. Just want to make sure I'm not going to damage anything!:)

Cheers

Chris

The rods will be too short and pull the axles over to one side, and make it lean.

With the lift kit fitted:
Whip the bolts out of one end and free both the rods.
Roll the car back and forwards a bit, and bounce it to settle the springs.
The bolts wont go back in now by miles

Don't ask me how to get them back in again though

I'd saw straight across the tube, measure the gap with both ends fitted, and splice a piece in

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Leaving the standard rods on for a short amount of time should be OK. They will put a bit of excess strain on the trailing arm bushes but they shouldn't cause any damage. If you left them on for a long time it could become an issue.

I can get adjustable panhard rods made up.

These are currently £70 per set EXCHANGE

You may have read that I am having problems with the bushes, which means that bushes are currently not available.

If you have a set of rods complete with bushes and can do without them for about 3 weeks then I can sort you out. Equally, if you are prepared to take pot luck with what bushes you get then you can have one of the sets I have exchanged, but these come with whatever bushes were in them originally or even NO BUSHES if they were removed by the original owner.
