I have just bought a more sophisticated OBDII diagnostic tool. This was specifically for my Range Rover Sport and its suspension issues but rather that purchase the low cost single car tool (ie for the Range Rover), I purchased the more sophisticated multi car version as it said that it supports Suzuki models.
Now my past experience of Suzuki OBDII has been disappointing, most readers only read the basic mandatory OBDII parameters and none of the Suzuki specific ones. The best that I found was SZviewer with a bluetooth dongle. This was a pretty comprehensive scanner but development has stopped and the app withdrawn (the APK is still around but at the risk that it has been hacked). SZViewer also did not offer any control options, it was read only plus DTC Clear
Therefore I wanted to see what this new tool could do. The initial results are promising and therefore I am going to create a video on it. This is your opportunity to ask questions that will be answered (or not) in the video.
Here are the basic modules it has detected and to some extent control (its a bi-directional tool). James will want me to point out that the TPMS errors on his car are "History" and not current, probably when the new tyres were fitted.
M13 manual 2003 Model
M13VVT auto 2018 Model
K15 Manual 2021 Gen4 Model
The tool is a Launch CRP919X (not sponsored, fully paid for to work on my Range Rover)

Sir,
I have a 2012 gen 3 that happily drives me wherever I point it to. Why should I get a diagnostic scanner?
If I happen to be able to borrow one, what should I look for in the Jimny's system?

I have not used a bi-directional Launch scanner yet, but, my old Launch EasyDiag has read every Suzuki I've ever plugged it into, so I'd say their stuff works, and based on your saying this model works with your cars, I'm about to order one.
Thanks a million for being the guinea pig

If you're happy to be at the mercy of whatever dealer or independent mechanic you take your car to, then you don't need a scanner.
The sad reality of life is that today's vehicles, even fourteen year old models have more electronics than you can shake a stick at, and diagnosing a fault is often beyond the skill set of a mechanic without the necessary tools. You might not be of the persuasion to get your hands dirty when your car throws a hissy fit, but, rest assured, one day it will happen, and knowing where the fault lies is half the challenge in getting it sorted.
I've seen my daughter's car (a 2015 Vitara) report codes for the cruise control, hill hold & radar brake systems because of a tail lamp bulb - an easy five minute fix that would probably have cost me a pretty penny if I had to take it to a dealer to have the codes read.

I'm suddenly feeling quite light in the wallet. Nevertheless.
What is the perceived threat with szviewer? Is it related to new downloads or existing apps already installed?

The threat for SZviewer is from new downloads.
The app is no longer in the play store. Therefore it is only available in the form of an APK file and "sideloading" into Android. As anyone can create an APK file, they could add a malevolent payload.
I would make a back up of your installed app if you have it so that if your device fails you can reload it on another device

- Install Files by Google App. If you don't have it already, download and install the Files by Google app from the Play Store.
- Open Files by Google. Launch the Files by Google app from your launcher or home screen.
- Navigate to "Installed Apps" ...
- Select the app. ...
- Copy the APK file to either google drive. one drive or in some way (email?) it to another device
