Manual to Auto swap was created by Idris
Has anyone done it? Is there any reason it could be hard? I've done manual to auto and auto to manual in other vehicles but not a Jimny.
Reason for wanting to do so. It's my wifes car and she struggles with a manual at the best of times + The gearbox itself is not in the best condition, the synchros whine in most gears and are buggered on first (I can get it in by double clutching, but my wife has to stop).
From what I can find on the web the manual and auto only differ in peadal box, gear selector and possibly mounting bracket?
Oh its a 2002. Thanks

Anything is possible at a cost. Personally I would look for an auto and swap cars. Simple and insurance friendly and if you take the time to look at a few it will probably be cheaper than a conversion.

Plus the auto controller, the changes in the loom to support the auto and the ECU
You are going to need most of an Auto Jimny to make an Auto Jimny

Thanks guys. Didn't know it was an electronic auto, all my previous conversions have been old school. So kickdown cable and reverse light swich have been the only connections that differeed form a manual.
I am in France and post Brexit sourcing a Auto Jimny is not on the cards. So it's lessons for my wife and fix the gearbox whine for me...when it gets realy bad.
