When I took the rear seats out, I tried to disconnect the rear seat belt electrics but it didn't play ball - warning sign stayed on - so I covered the belt unit in bubble wrap and stowed them behind the trim. They don't rattle and they are out of sight.

If you are worried about scratching the paint, a small piece of Gorilla tape or similar fixed in the slot will protect it.

I'm not convinced the slot is made for the stowage of the buckle even though it works for it. I think the slot is just to allow free movement of the belt without rubbing?

Oh silly me, because I removed the belt and stowed it behind the trim I forgot that the belt already ran up to the top securing bolt.
