Apologies for my daft question :dry: , but how to remove the old (or fit a new) drop link from the near side of the front axle housing? Seemingly there is not enough room to twist around and get the threaded part out of the bracket! I don't know how it was fitted either without bending something?!?

I have tried tilting, twisting in every direction but it would need an extra 5-10mm which is simply not achiveable!

Without going outside to look because it's raining here, I thought they were mounted on the outside of the axle as in the opposite way to your picture?

As to how to get that off there has to be a way, it cannot have grown there. I certainly don't remember having that issue when I had to replace mine. Good luck.

This does leave the puzzle unanswered unfortunately.
Something has to give, shorted the thread or bend the tab?

Yours is the correct way around, here is ours.

However you appear to have had a welded repair done to the panhard mount which also affects the drop link, there is a piece of heavy duty metal in that's taking up the room.

Thank you Gents!

I was thinking that's a wierd bracket! Now I know why it looks wierd...I guess it's been done when my car was fixed after a minor accident in 2017. They possibly have welded the extra piece after fitted the new link otherwise I could take it out later. Would it be wise to cut/grind out a gap on the side of the bracket so the drop link could be shifted sideways, instead of through the hole? MOT failure?

Does the link take vertical force only or any direction? I'm thinking to create a gap towards to the front bumber. There is enough metal there to keep it strong. Just an idea. Shortening the thread is not an option because it has the hole for a 5mm allen key (stop spinning)

Alternatively leaving the bracket as it is, cutting-off the link then replace with a new one externally as Lambert said?
