JIMNY GEN3: Service Manual. Version Identification was created by GuiCosta
Hello all.
My name is Guilherme I am from BRAZIL. I am new to this forum, been lurking for some time, even before buying my Jimny.
I am an entusiast of 4x4, but not much ca$h to have two cars, so, my 4x4 must be my daily car also. Before this Jimny I had a Jeep Cherokee 1998, bought in 2012 here in Brazil, imported from US. Then on 2015 a Jeep Wrangler 2.5l 1997 when I moved to the US. In between, some small civillian cars...
Now back to Brazil I bought a Jimny GEN3 2013, basic model, they call it here Jimny 4ALL. I like to have a library for the car I own, to know what is going on on maintenance and also to be able to do simple tasks myself, so I downloaded a Service Manual that I found on internet, but I had a Chilton Manual for my both Jeeps that helped me a LOT, and I cannot find a similar literature for Jimny. Any suggestion?
And here we go of my problem, that moved me from a lurker to a forum participant: I don´t know if the Brazillian version is the same of the international. I know that there are some obvious differences like on 2013 was not mandatory for ABS neither AirBags, and my car has none. But I need to know if the part numbers are compatible, if I maybe want to buy something abroad if the price is better.
I got the WORKSHOP SERVICE MANUAL, and there are some info there, but Suzuki does name some things by themselves, but at least I have a starting point. On this manual there is this information:
How do I identify if my model is compatible with this manual?
Also, my Jimny turned 72.000km, and there is some maintenace that must be done, Spark Plugs included, if there is a HO2S Sensor. How do I know that?
(there is a brazillian forum, that has a lot of information, but it seems limited for Jimny in some aspects, also in buying parts)
Thanks in advance,
- Guilherme

I must admit I do not remember where to find the VIN number on the car, but I think there is a badge on the firewall under the bonnet. or on the frame behind the right (left?)front wheel. Here (Norway) the Vehicle database is online and searchable from the plate number so i do not need to see the car.
When you find your VIN number you can see if the service manual is applicable for your car. if not, put your number up here and we can see if we can help.
Do you know where the Jimnys in Brazil is manufactured? I know there are several factories in South America but I have no idea if there is a Suzuki factory.
In the eighties we had Brazilian Ford Escorts in Norway.

When they nationalize cars here things can be mixed, some products are "assembled". I just bought a new clutch disk, and it came with parts "Made in Korea", but they stick the brazilian flag everywhere.
I am not sure where they assemble the Suzuki cars here, they closed their factory by 2015 and moved production with Mitsubishi, in Brazil also. As I saw now searching the news.
My fear is to have to unassemble something, based on a manual that may have a part that is different, just because I don´t have the right manual. By the owner´s manual, I just saw that this looks like mine is the JB43. But no way to be sure if the rest is compatible...
I just want to be able to search parts by it´s numbers.

On the firewall (bulkhead) behind the battery. The cars right hand side, there you will find the ViN number. My tag is blue but this can vary probably.
