On the european diesel jimnys the bonnet scoop might be for an intercooler, likley just a vent on a petrol.

There is a turbo kit on aliexpress for the jimny, that would make use of the scoop with a nice intercooler

When you look at the mouth of the scoop it is blanked off with a black plastic trim.

A very interesting device....much maligned and works a treat.

Not sure what you mean....an intercooler cools the air before it gets compressed again by another compressor.....turbo feeding a bigger turbo etc....an aftercooler is on an engine equipped with a single turbo or supercharger....."compressor" in it's exemplar definition.......inanimate objects are usually quiet until acted on by outside forces.....rocks and branches lol.....then they hiss and have fits.

Ah, most likely the fluid was all in the outside part as the engine would have been hot when it was put away, so it takes a while to pump it all back to the reservoir, I was right, it takes a while for it to get the idea :)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
