Thanks jack, I'll add those to the list of things to check
Made a start today, front bumper off, headlights out, fuel pipe cover off. Removed lots of mud to find some rust. luckily all the body mounts look to be pretty good, famous last words...
Hoping tomorrow to drop the tbox and do the rest of the lift prep, and start cleaning the rust for spraying
Cheers

Well I got the tbox off and sent to Rockwatt who confirmed half the teeth were missing, so while I wait for the new one I can carry on with the lift.
I've found all the things jack mentioned, thanks jack, and I've loosened the front 4 bolts. I also took out the battery as it looks like that could also pull, plus it's sat on the garden so long it needs replacing anyway
The rear bumper is off enough to tie it out he way but I'm going to get the plastic arches and door sill covers off to do the ones in front of the back wheel. Better to take them off than all the skin on my hands.
Just need a dry day

Do you have a towbar? i found the flat factory scissor jack was really useful as it sat between the towbar bracket and back of the body nice and worked well.
Did anyone say it must be on flat hard ground? the chassis will twist a bit if uneven and make getting it all lined up again more difficult.

I used hi-lift jack made easy work of it
lifted front to rear so no risk of the body sliding sideways

Hi Riccy, er no, probably the most obvious thing and I've not seen it anywhere LOL, but it must lose loads of rigidity when not attached.
Unfortunately we have no properly flat areas, and it's already up on ramps at the front and rear off side is sitting on an old van wheel to get me a bit more clearance to get to the tbox
I'm sure I've got plenty of various sizes blocks and wood off cuts from diy jobs, so can level the 4 wheels and it should be fine
Jack, good shout, I'd looked at getting the standard Jack in the front easy enough but looking at your pic I realise the rear is not so simple. So this could be my excuse for buying a farm jack

Well I got it done, nearly. I half followed riccy's advice and put a spirit level across the front and back so it was ok sideways but it's leaning forward, doh ! Got to put it up again and try and wiggle it
So anyone else doing this, make sure it's level
Also good tips on the electrics etc, I'd have ripped them out otherwise
Another tip for anyone else thinking about this, be prepared for some serious rust work afterwards. Suddenly it's in all those places you've just uncovered and all the places you can jet wash easier now
