Body lift advice was created by Me and my Jimny
Hi guys, I bought a 2" body lift kit ages ago and then my missus decided we were doing a vw camper conversion, so it's still in the box.
Jimny's off the road with a busted tbox at the moment so seems the right time to do it all in one go. I just wanted to check I had the right things in the list before I started, if anyone could comment
Bumpers off
Headlights out
Loosen both ends of steering shaft
Undo brake Union for replacement
Take the cover off the fuel filler pipe and loosen (does this need extending somehow?)
Gators off both gear levers to see they're not catching
Do the lift and then put it all back together
Am I missing anything ?

You will need to bend the transfer box lever a bit. it will hit the body when trying to get low range.
I bent the gearstick as well, though some find thats not needed (possibly my newer/bigger dashboard gets in the way?). Some cars need the steering spacers, some dont (Dave/S200KYS/bits4vits/zookbob has ones for 2" lifts)
Other than that you have it covered there

Thanks, bending the lever sounds hard, is it possible to trim the hole in the floor instead ?
If not what's the best way to bend it ?

its pretty easy. i had the t-box out so did it whilst out (rocklobster box). put a cut in the back side and bent, then weld around it. Is worth sleeving it if you aint brilliant at welding (i had the gearbox stick snap off in my hand from a poor weld one day).
others have taken the stick out and bent to suit with heat, but i dont have a torch so went for cut and weld. I guess you could cut the body slot bigger, but it would naff up the gaiter seal and surround, meaning noise and dirt ingress!

Ok thanks, I don't weld or have a torch so will have to see. If I do the rest I'll have to work something out, right
Sounds like the tbox change is the right time though. I'm going to mr rockwatt for the new one so might see if he does levers to suit the 2 inch lift.
Thanks for the help

Just a few bits from me
un clip front brake pipe from chassis next to coil spring (near side only)
fuel pipes can be accessed under the rear arch their is a removable plastic cover (do not try to remove the bolts behind fuel flap they will snap off)
I also had to
cut ty-raps around the engine loom
lift the power steering fluid bottle from its mount
disconnected the vac pipes for front hubs near the brake Union
just lift the body slow and keep looking in engine bay for obstructions
