gear/transfer oil was created by Iaitoo
This has probably been asked a bit, and I did try to search. But I couldn't find anything that gave me the answers I need
Looking for oil for gear/transfer. Manual says 75W90 GL4.
Should I use synthetic, or semi? Manual says nothing about this. And all oils I can find in the stores near me are classified as both GL4 and GL5. But I have read that I must not put GL5 in the gearbox or transfer. So will that oil be a problem since it meets both specifications? I would think that there is something in the GL5 specification that hurts the gears?

Hi, Fluid specifications can be found here:
www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php/Forecourt
You are correct about not using GL-5 in the gearbox and transfer box.
I use Comma oil found at Halfords I think that's synthetic.

Hmmm. No one sells that here in Norway. They are all both GL4 and 5. Very annoying
Well, someone probably does, but I have checked all the local stores, no one has what I need..

I ran some gl4/5 for a couple of months, it was almost impossible to get out of gear once warm. Having changed it again for gl4 all has been well for the last 18 months. It might take some finding but do use the gl4.

Castrol or MPM has GL4, it comes up in our Meca catalog under Jimny. So Meca should have it for you! I put Mobil1 SHC GL4/5 in mine, havent noticed any change yet

Think mekonomen has some MPM products. Will check there. Meca in Bodø doesn't have a store. Thanks
