Figured I'd do what Riccy suggested above, and put the rear propshaft back in and took it for a test drive...
... only to find it wouldn't go into low box

So, it all came back out again, and I shortened the transfer stick and re-angled it a little, and then re-assembled everything... (My Jimny has a 2" bodylift, and to complicate things the 'old' (pre-VVT) transfer box I got had already been extended for a 3" bodylift)
Then worked out the wiring... as Riccy and J999PRE had said -
I used a large staple (from a staple gun) bent to the right shape to short out the two pins on the left side of the 6-pin plug, and then linked the black and blue wire via the transfer box's 4WD switch (same on an SJ/lobster box then) to earth (on the transfer box HD bracket), and that made everything work - the 4WD light on the dashboard behaved as expected, and the vacuum free wheel hubs clunked into place when 4WD was selected too...
So, out for another test drive...
It's low! A hoot in fact! It accelerates at an alarming rate for a little Jimny! LOL
Speed becomes a 'problem' though, it does do 70mph, but it's at 4,600rpm! (in fifth!)
But, as a daily driver for pottering around? Hmmm... I'll sleep on it and have another drive tomorrow... It'll be great from the traffic lights?!
It is nice and low for offroad use though? (but then is the standard transfer box up to it?)

You should try it with a 1.5 rocklobster box in! :woohoo:
Thats pretty much what i found when i tried it. i think it will still be a little over with the diffs, but not much.
I dont think load will be a massive issue on the t-box, as you are driving it at 0.5x lower than it would have been with its original gearbox to achieve the same speeds (1.5 output on R7me box and 1.0 output on R72). Therefore its under less stress at any speed than it would have been in the original car. Hardcore offroading with lockers might be a bit much for it, but be great for laning
