Thanks for this info guys. Wife's 2005 VVT has been playing up. Goes for one journey ok, then if car is driven again shortly after it starts playing up (regardless of rpm/velocity). Then clears and seems to be ok for rest of the day.
So far changed:
Crank sensor
Plugs (they were pretty shot)
Cam sensor
Looks like Coil packs are next.
