Belt whistling was created by emu88
One of my belts whistles occasionally when I accelerate - is this an urgent job or can I drive around like this for a long while?

wich belt?
mine's been doing that for a couple of months now, narrowed it down to the alternator bearing, gonna take it to the mechanic today. mine's having no trouble with it. when it squeals i just step on the loud pedal, once it hits 4000rpm it stops and doesnt do it again till the next time i start the engine after a while parked

Not sure which belt, but one of them looks worn, the other looks like it has plenty of life left in it. If it's the alternator bearing is that a quick job? I think my alternator is fine, so was planning on just swapping BOTH the belts.

The thing is - its a LOT easier to take the radiator off to change Fan (Alternator) Belt and P/S Belt has to come off first ...

So while Radiator off, best to change both - as a pair they are only £20-ish

Jalapeño, IISY?

It is easier, but takes a lot longer, and you have to drain the water.
The fan belt will feed in through the fan blades as you rotate the fan by hand.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
