My 2007 Jimny has just failed its MOT and the garage has said its the King Pin Barings as their is a lot of play when the wheel is jacked up. They referred to it as the axle swivel joint.
I have changed king pin barings before but at the moment I haven't the time nor the inclination (getting too old) so I will get the garage to do it.
I will buy the kit off here..................king pin baring kit and the outer dust seal kit etc.
However the garage who priced me a kit up from a suzuki dealer (£150 + vat) (i don't think so) said they would change the king pins as well (they comes with the kit).
My view would be that the king pins are just about bomb proof and unlikely to need changing as well and so I would appreciate your advice.

Well I believe close on 100% of people never change the Kingpins.
But if you want.....
Kingpin Bearing/Seal Kit - £48.00
Kingpin £48.00 each - £96.00
postage - £5.10
Total = £149.10 in total
Compared to your quote of £180

I haven't changed the actual kingpins themselves on either of my jimnys- mine has 120k on it and think it's on the original pins.
I have changed the bearings though and used martins kit on both and it's great value.
I would order his kits and find a local garage with sensible labour rates to do the work for you- you can even provide martin's guide to them if needs be!
