It seems like my brakes are binding. How do I go about sorting this out?

I average 32 around town,
39 on a trip,
29 to 30 towing.

best so far 331 miles for 37lts on a single none stop trip @ 56 to 60 mph

If it is your brakes binding then they will be red hot after a trip.

You can then buy refurbish items such as:

New sliders and rubber boots (these are a key source of binding issues)

New pistons

However if you are starting to look at corroded pistons then a new caliper can be cheaper than the effort of refurbishing your own

A compression test will give you an idea of how sound the engine is. If you haven't had a new lambda sensor for a few years then its worth replacing that, a bad sensor will affect the fuel consumption long before it throws a code.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thanks for the info Martin.

I was a bit worried after my first drive following my kingpin bearing rebuild, as I thought maybe I'd misaligned the caliper or disc when putting things back together. The wheel wasn't turning freely by hand, and on the road there was major burning brake pad smell. This settled down by the end of the drive, so I'm hoping it was just things getting bedded in etc.

Wow. I get 300miles to circa 36litres (answers on a postcard why it wont fill over this). It hasn't run out yet but I stop/refill before it gets 20miles+ after the fuel light comes on.

I'm not shy with the revs either. I'm a firm believer that once warmed up a petrol engine should use all (excluding redline) of its rev range daily.
