4WD-LOW not engaging

Hi!
I just became an owner of Jimny 2009 and in one of my first rides I hit a stump with my gear box while riding 4wd-low. I couldn't disengage 4wd and 4wd-low until I saw a wire hanging form the gearbox. I plugged it back to gearbox and got back to 2wd. Unfortunatelly 4wd and 4wd-l couldn't be engaged again. So I went to the mechanic, he fixed the wires but there still is a problem: 4wd works fine but when I push 4wd-l button it beeps and I can hear some electric engine working in gear box. It probably tries to set the box to low mode. It tries 3 times, gives up, 4L blinks and low gears don't work. Could that be electic wiring problem? Mechanical problem in low gear box? Anything else?

Hope you have some ideas as I'm stuck with this problem and it's pretty far from my place to Suzuki or any 4x4 specialists. Thanks.

Thanks but I'm not from UK so I'd prefer to fix it. Do you think I should change the whole gearbox?
More details: manual gear box with button switch.

I've got a manual Jimny, so I've never seen the push-button type...

But, I have got a Suzuki New Grand Vitara... and that won't go into low unless the brake and clutch are depressed?

With you being new to your Jimny, I just wondered if you too have to depress the clutch and/or brake for the box to switch to low?

Only my NGV beeps like that if the brake and clutch aren't depressed...?

Hmmm, thinking about it... my NGV would not engage low once as a fuse had blown...?

Check all the fuses too, maybe one blew when you're wire was ripped off?

Clutch, break are depressed. I think fuse is ok too beacuse I can actually hear the electric engine trying to engage low gears. It just can't make it and after 3 tryies it gives up...
