Have I asked too much from the clutch?

A bit of advice needed.

Yesterday, I had a good idea!

I wanted to under-seal the Jim, so to get it in the air enough for me to haul my carcase underneath I decided to put it on 4 car ramps. I switched it to 4wd and slowly ran it up the ramps, obviously slipping the clutch as it went up. Near the top, the Jim slowed and stopped. I released the clutch all the way out and it didn't move as the clutch was slipping!

I depressed the clutch pedal and rolled the Jim off the ramps, then had another go... A bit quicker this time and made it up to the top easily.

However, when I opened the door to get out the smell of burnt clutch was hanging in the air. I've completed the under-sealing and road tested. I can't make the clutch slip again.

Was I asking too much of the Jims clutch? :(

How big are your ramps?? There's little need to slip the clutch to get up normal sized ramps ?

I've had mine stuck in deep bogs and had it stinking like you describe . Once cooled down its fine again so wouldn't worry about it

Just 4 normal Halfrauds type car ramps! It's the fact that I was driving up 4 ramps (one for each wheel) and not 2 that caused it.. I think.

I wouldn't want to trust just driving up the ramps without feathering the clutch, I'm just as likely to drive over the small stops and drop the foot or so!

Thanks for letting me know that the clutch recovers once cool.

You did stick it in four-low to climb the ramps? To make it easier on the clutch... And easier for you to control... ;)

And how big are your tyres?

Standard tyres, standard Jimny I think should do it in 4WD Low. I am fairly sure I have done this with LittleJimny.
