Clutch on the Jimmy is on its way out....again!!! Does anyone have any experience of the heavy duty 4paddle clutches you can get? I'm sick of changing it every year now or are there any other clutch kits you ca get for the Jim other than the exceedy one? I.E does the 1.6 vita ta clutch for and would that be any better for off-roading than the normal Jimny one?

Any help would be great! Cheers guys

How many miles do you cover to eat clutches? If not a lot then something is amis,s for example is the flywheel surface nice and flat and unmarked or do you perhaps drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal. A lot of people do and don't realise they do. Is the cable adjusted correctly? I am 67 and over time I have owned and driven many different cars and vans and never had to replace a clutch through my ownership. There was one I had to do on a van that I bought off ebay and on the way home found it slipped in high gear if pulling away in too high a gear. But as I had technically not owned that for any length of time I don't count that as worn out by me.

I don't do many miles but it's 95% off road miles this last clutch has lasted 2 years of off-roading once a month and the occasional trip out to work or shops but probably only done 10k miles of that. I think it's the off road use that's killing the clutch

I should think that most of the time offroad is spent in the low gears and so the speed of the drive input shaft is low and hence the chance of clutch slip is low. I assume you replace all of the clutch components when you do the clutch and not just the friction plate. I also assume that the brake/s are not dragging which can cause more loading of the drivetrain.

I suspect that the use of 235/75-R15 tyres without a change in transfer box ratio is putting a strain on the standard clutch. Sub-consciously you are probably slipping it more.
