Hi, is there a cut off point at which Suzuki sorted the problem or is it that they need replacing periodically due to the design?
Cheers

Thanks and I guess it's a "how long is a piece of string" for the time they last!

Keep out of deep water and they'll last longer. Fording, wading and driving through deep mud the water gets past the swivel seals as they're dust seals, not waterproof. Water then goes to the lowest point which is the bottom king pin bearing causing corrosion and imminent failure.

Hi, that's really useful info. I just need to find myself a car now. Last two I looked at were leaking oil badly which was disappointing.

Use the leaking oil as a bargaining point. You know its a quick £24 from BigJimny shop fix, whilst the current owner may have been told the "you need a new axle for £400" story so often heard when a Jimny fails its MOT etc.
Bargain them down by suggesting the car has a serious problem!!
